April 30,2010
What a month this has been.
On April 1st, Gigi and I spent the night in Wellington, Ontario, in a wonderful little hotel in a former foundry. Our room overlooked the creek in which we were able to watch the fish swimming. We also had time to walk on the sand-dunes just outside of Picton, ON. We ate in the dining-room which had a limited menu - only 3 choices! Wow, was the meal absolutely superb!
Then on to Windsor to visit with Nick, Sue and Darcy and Wesley for Easter weekend. We did manage to change the carpet on the front balcony, go out for a meal in a restaurant with Wesley, and had a walk down by the river. Wesley enjoyed throwing sticks through the new vertical railings along the edge of the river.
Home on Monday, April 5. The drive was long enough and uneventful. We did have a friend with us and were able to have some great conversation.
Late on Monday, April 5th I received a phone call from my brother to say my Dad had passed away. Late that night we drove out the the Herron Residence to say a silent farewell to Dad. I drove back out on Tuesday to tell Mom. Somehow she already knew that Dad was gone.
Nick, Sue and family arrived on the Thursday. We had only left them on Monday and here they were with us 4 days later. The funeral was on Saturday and we were delighted and blessed by the friends and relatives who came up to Lachute for the visitation, stayed for the funeral and then came to grave side at the Harrington Protestant Cemetery. Off the beaten path to be sure with a magnificent view down the valley. Mom and Dad used to picnic in the cemetery parking lot and had chosen the site. Everyone marveled at the beauty of the final resting place.
While all this was going on, Nick had received a text message to say there was great interest by a perspective client in buying his house. (House had been for sale since February as Nick is moving to Ottawa - much closer to us). By the time Nick returned to Windsor an offer had come in. The offer has been accepted with a closing date of May 14, 2010!
As I write this, Nick & Sue are in Ottawa house hunting. In fact they have just advised a house has been found, an offer made and accepted. Some final details to be worked out for a closing date of May 26! Talk about moving quickly!!!!!
Oh, I almost forgot we had a nice dumping of snow last Tuesday, April 27.
A visit to camp this morning revealed much has been done and there is much to do. Hopefully the roof will be closed off by this time next week.
