Renovations in Windsor
Guess how I spent a week of my vacation? Doesn't that remind you of the first composition in school in September. You remember how you were told to write about ''My Summer Vacation''. Oh, the memories.
Well, I just can't resist recounting some of the happenings of my week spent in Windsor with the family. There is the desire to put the house on the market and so there is a need to do some sprucing up. It has been 6 years since they moved in and the paint is starting to look 6 years old! So, the decision was made to brighten up the kitchen and to change to look of the upstairs bathroom, as well as to change the color of the entrance hallway and stairs.
First the old wall-paper had to be removed from the kitchen. I think it must have been put on with contact cement. It took a lot of effort and much longer than had been planned. Getting rid of the wall-panel on the lower walls was quite quick. Paint colors were chosen and all the family pitched in. We quickly moved from the kitchen to the hallway and stairs. Darcy lent a hand painting the hallway. then on to the bathroom and a change of color, a new sink and vanity, new wall cabinet and new towel rods completed the job. the old brown carpet is gone from the stairs and the upper hallway and a new one has been ordered to be installed later this week.
Once the painting was done it was on to removing 4 layers of tile and linoleum in the kitchen and one really well stuck layer of tile in the hallway. The installation of a new sub-floor in the kitchen made the floors level from the front door right through to the back door. Wesley was a great help in getting up the old tiles.
The window treatment was redone in the kitchen with the installation of Roman blinds handily crafted by Gigi.
All in all quite a week. We are all rather tired and sore, having discovered muscles that had not been used for some time.
