Holidays 2008
You may have been wondering why you haven't heard from me for a while. Truth be told, I was having too much fun being on holiday. Now that I am back at home and have settled into a more or less ''normal'' routine, I guess it's time to post. So, here goes.
The first part of the holiday was spent on the coast of Spain in the little town of Salou, southwest down the coast from Barcelona. We, that is my wife and I as well as her two sisters and their husbands, stayed at the Blau Mar Hotel, 4 stars, almost on the beach. As a matter of fact, from our balcony you could see the beach and even the waves as they came ashore. We had a lovely room with separate bedroom from the living-room and kitchenette area, completely air-conditioned. When we arrived in Barcelona the temperature was 25 C and be the time we got to Salou by air-conditioned train the temperature had reached 31 C. Needless to say it didn't take me long to get into the pool that first day. That was my only time in the pool. The rest of the time is was the beach and the Sea. What a superb time we had.
The breakfast buffet was wonderful. Fresh fruit, cold meat, cheeses, croissants, eggs and much more. We did not go hungry. Because of the great breakfast we did picnic lunches on the beach. Dinner at night was another glorious buffet. I was amazed at both the quality of the food and the numerous choices. During our stay not too many of the dishes were repeats. Soups, salads, cold buffet, hot buffet, cheese tray, dessert buffet and I must not forget the grill. We had trouble leaving the dining room. We all gained a few pounds that week.
Most evenings we walked along the boardwalk and had coffee at an outdoor terrace overlooking the Mediterranean. Beautiful!
That's the end of part I. Part II to follow.
