February 2008 in Review

It's been a while since the last post and some of you may be wondering what I have been doing.

Since the end of January I have been working at a part-time job, 2 days per week, with The Salvation Army. For most of February my work consisted in filling out various sheets having to do with the budgets for this year. Quite interesting if you like figures.

I have also done some traveling with my wife, Gigi, in relation to her work in Public Relations. We were due to get up early and go to Quebec City on Feb. 12 when the phone rang at 5:10 A.M. It was Gigi's sister calling to say the Gigi's mom had passed away. Needless to say, this was quite a shock. Maman, 96, had had a slight stroke about 10 days earlier and as was her custom was starting to rebound. This time she didn't make it. The funeral which was well attended was held in a church in Corseaux-Corsier. The same church where Papa's funeral was held almost 8 years ago.

We had been fortunate to have visited Maman in December and have wonderful memories of her. We went to Switzerland on Feb. 14 for the funeral which was held on Feb. 18. Following the grave side ceremony there was a reception at a nearby hotel. It was a great time to meet all the cousins and see all the family members.

The occasion also allowed us time to stay with Charles-André and Claire-Lise, in Corseaux, as well as with Jacqueline and Rodney, in Bern. We also had a a quick trip to Bale and stayed with one of Gigi's nieces.

While the occasion was a sad one, we were able to spend time with Gigi's brother and sisters and their spouses.

We are now back at home and have adjusted to the 6-hour time difference.

The first thing Darcy said when she woke up this morning was, "Is it Easter Friday yet?" She was disappointed to hear that it isn't. She's really excited about your visit (we all are!).
