Update - September 30, 2010
Good news!
My visit to the eye doctor last week is the last for 6 months! Can you believe that?
My IOP is stable at 14 and the doctor is well pleased with the results of the two surgeries - Ahmed shunt and then the cataract removal. Everythng is settling as it should. Only one (1) eye drop for the right eye and only once a day! Wow, such progress.
The left eye has been and continues to be stable with two(2) medications. One is the same as the right eye. I am now getting used to the new normal!
Swimming is now up to three (3) times per week at the local Y. I managed 36 lengths on yesterday. I'm going for 40 tomorrow.
The official retirement was this week as both my wife and I received certificates indicating the number of years we have worked for The Salvation Army. My wife has worked for 18 years. I have worked for a total of 10 years since my retirement from teaching. There was broken service as I retired for the first time in 2005 and came back in 2008 after 5 months in India. Hence the title of the blog!
Right now we are both working around the house and getting used to not having to go to work! That is quite an accomplishment to sleep in past 6 o'clock in the morning!
We both have received requests to help out here and there. So, we are planning some holidays for later this fall to get us away from the city and the telephone!
Thanksgiving is not far away and we have already purchased the turkey! Pumpkin pie should be on the menu!
Enjoy your turkey!
