November 2009 updte

Wow! Where has the time gone. It is hard to believe it is over a month since my last entry.

After coming home from the vacation work-week in Windsor (950 km away) it was nice to get back to the office (3 days a week) for a bit of a rest. Thankfully the Thanksgiving weekend was just around the corner so that gave an extra day to re-energize!

Gigi and I broke tradition this year and went up to Mount Royal on Thanksgiving morning. We enjoyed the bright sunshine, the clear air, the squirrels rummaging around, the birds, and above all the beautiful colours of the leaves on the trees. We parked at Beaver Lake, since it was before 10.00 A.M. and there was still space in the first parking lot. We walked along the bridle trail until we came to the lookout over downtown Montreal. The view was magnificent. There were a number of runners, walkers, and tourists enjoying the view. We then took our time ambling back along the bridle path to the chalet over looking Beaver Lake. I really enjoyed the natural setting of beaver Lake. There was quite a controversy in the paper this summer over the fact the city was letting weeds, actually reeds, grow in the lake. It is a much more natural setting for the ducks and other water fowl to swim among.

We managed to get a window seat in the chalet and enjoyed our coffee while watching the ducks in the lake, families with children in tow walking around the lake and a ladies exercise class on the balcony. As it was now well after 11:00 A.M. there were all kinds of people out and about enjoying the sights the mountain has to offer.

My October visit to my eye doctor revealed the pressure in my right eye was climbing again, even though I had a Trabulectomy. So this past week, I underwent minor surgery as he ''needled'' my eye. It looks really gross but actually doesn't feel bad at all. Back to the doctor's on Monday for a check-up and then a few days of R&R.

We continue to enjoy life and are delighted to learn that the Windsor part of our family will be on the move next spring. Ottawa is the chosen location and is about a 2 hour drive from Montreal. Needless to say, there will be many visits to see the grand children as we can do day-trips instead of 4-day weekends.

More later.
